Homebrew PCBs

I don't know if I am missing something, but I have always cleaned
boards   one of two ways.

When the board is good quality and pretty flat on the surface I use
Aluminium oxide wet and dry paper, usually grade 600.

On cheaper board where the copper layer is not completely flat,
Synthetic wire wool (the plastic pad type).

Both methodss with water to rub down the surface until the surface is
bright and then flushed with water to remove any particles.

Wipe with a microfibre cloth (rinsed and squeezed out in water) and
leave on edge to dry for a few minutes.

I have never needed to do anything else, it seems to remove all traces
of grease and leave a clean finely textured oxide free surface.

Worth a try.

Yes, i do the same thing dry and then wipe with acetone or alcohol.

If the surface was oily the grinding just smears it around, i'm surprised  
the water flushes it all away.
