Direct PCB printing with Epson Stylus color 440

Direct PCB printing with Epson Stylus color 440

2006-08-24 by Biulazz

Hello all,
is somebody experienced with printing PCB with an old
Epson Stylus color 440?
I'm gonna modifying it, and I'll be glad to get inspiration
from someone else's earlier work!

Thank you in advance,

Biula.

Hey, i found the older epsons will not work because the resolution seems
too low.
The individual lines of ink it prints did not close up in my trial.
I think you need 1440 dpi of vertical resolution.
Not 100% sure about this though, but that's what it looked like.

Older epsons starting from the 720dpi stylus-400 colour are perfectly
ok for tracks of 10mil.

Crap printouts only happen when crap ink and/or transparency is used.

For the last few years, i've been using a stylus-460 colour, and there's
no gaps between lines or pinholing.

I think that ST is talking about direct-
inkjet printing.

This might be different to printing onto
JetStar film or good trannys that have a
gel coat.

The Copper PCB probbably does not soak up
the ink and fill in the gaps as well.

(Not that I think that direct injet is a
good idea - photo-process all the way and
save the goats)
