Done some pen tests, after I gave up on the sharpie. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tinabriddon/pens/ -- Lez

Hello Lez,
After reviewing the pictures, I assume Uniball came out best. What
is the Uniball model number/name of the pen you used other than the
SKU of 902778918258. Would prefer it over the Sharpie.

Would prefer it over the Sharpie. only other ID on it is this.... uni PAINT MARKER PX-203 A ggole found this... 13153 MARKER PAINT UNI PX203 XF SILVER, bx12 13154 MARKER PAINT UNI PX203 XF WHITE, bx12 But my supplier offered to sell me a silver, gold or white, I went for white as I thought gold on copper would be harder to see, same as silver, and possibly may have real mettalic properties and may react with the etching. I see the winner, Uniball, is made by the Mitsubishi Pencil Co. Interesting, and I'll add this to my shopping list. I've never had much luck with the Sharpies working well, but I find they hold up to FeCl a _whole_ lot better if I bake the board a little before etching. I leave my boards close to my stovetop's pilot light for an hour or several, which gets the boards up to barely touchable heat, whatever that is. Roughly 60oC. With the baking step I get roughly equal results from Sharpie, Lumocolor, and even a blue Avery brand Marks-A-Lot Permanent (only $0.50 at the dollar store). Left too long, all etch through, but are still useful in a pinch. James Arthur

Well try the uniball white, you wont need to bake! Lez

Just adding to my UK pen test, dont laugh....Asda laundry marker.... The Asda laundry marker with 24 iron on name tags, 75pence, bar code ends 09851 in you local asda now. Also add to this the lumocolor cd/dvd black, its not as good as the laundry pen, which I found odd, I was expecting it to do well and I;m not impressed. I still have to find anything to beat the uni paint pen px203, which can be left in acid virtually overnight.........
