Sealing Toner with a Hot Air Gun - Sponge Rubbing

Sealing Toner with a Hot Air Gun - Sponge Rubbing

2008-02-02 by niponcio

Hi, I remember reading in a post, a while ago, that after transfering
the toner to the PCB, u could seal it with a heat gun, eliminating the
porous surface, getting the same results as with the green TRF Foil.

Ive been searching for that post but I cant find it.

My questions are:

1.- Does this sealing method will work with the sponge rubbing etching
technique.

2.- If so, at what temperature should I set the gun, and for how long
(how do I know the toner is sealed).

Thnx for your help

Something else that might work is exposing it to the vapour from a solvent.
This has been used for increasing the density of transparencies created with
a laser printer. It's probably easier than using hot air.

As the original poster, I simply used a hair dryer very close to the durace
of the pvb to "fast fuse" the toner.

Yes it works with the sponge method.

I've also had success with running the pcb through the laminator ( or
ironing) a seconf time using the release paper form labels. The idea is to
create a flatter surface and close up any pinholes.

Stay away from the solventss, there are verry messy and potentially
dangerous.

Thnx for the replies, I am going to test it. Gonna try a hot air gun
and the label backing paper.Hopefully the gun will work.

Thnx again
