Hi All1 I just bought a GBC H535 laminator from eBay for $95 with shipping! Is anyone using this for Toner Transfer? I think I got a good deal on this as others were listing them for between $300 and $450. The seller listed it as us3ed but good condition! I ws surprised no one else bid for it/ Thanks 73 Mike

Yeah, I managed to buy one here in the UK. It was a similar price, maybe a little bit more. I paid £70 delivered but it was a bargain as there were a few on sale for around £200 and new they seemed expensive. I have used it a little and it is just fantastic. Feels really solid and heats up nicely. Pretty happy with it. Trev --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, michael tenore <wb2lcw@...> wrote:

Any idea how hot the GBC H535 laminator gets? I'm using a Brother 2140 laser printer and the toner seems to require pretty high temperature. I do the toner transfer in a toaster oven at about 450F for 10 minutes to get a good transfer. Thanks for any info. 73 de Ken H> K9FV --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, "trevwhite74" <trevor.white100@...> wrote:

It has been said in other post's that the Brother toner needs a very high temperature! And is not recomended I have a HP 1200 laser printer ($25 Craigslist)and using HP Presentation paper($13 Staples) it is very easy to get a excellent transfer with my dry iron and only about two to three minutes of ironing. I have not had a single bad transfer using this HP paper! 73 Mike ________________________________

Mike, Do you have a model or reference # for this paper? What type of paper is it, Photo? Thanks, Brian At 05:34 PM 5/2/2009, you wrote:

Hi Mike, What is the part number for the paper you mentioned? I see two possibilities at Staples. Judging by the price you mentioned, it is probably the first one listed below. I looked on the HP site and both types are for laser printers, not ink jet. 73's David HP P/N Q2546A HP Color Laser Presentation Paper A bright, glossy paper that offers superior quality and reliability $13.99 for 300 pcs. HP P/N Q6541A HP Soft Gloss Presentation Laser Paper Double-sided soft gloss finish for rich, vibrant colors and graphics on both sides $15.70 for 200 pcs. --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, michael tenore <wb2lcw@...> wrote:

Hi! HP Presentation paper 130g Glossy, Product Q2546A Some one else in this group said he used it with great success and he is right! I hope you will be as happy with it as I am! When using glossy paper you can get trace and pad spreading from too much heat and pressure! This is not a problem with Photo paper but this HP Presentation paper seems not to have this problem. 73 mike tome glossy papers will om: Brian Gracia <briangracia@...> To: Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com

Yup, Q2546A. Works excellent! Spreading/pressure: Yes, the toner DOES spread easily with this paper (I'm pretty sure it has to do with the thermal transfer rate of the paper and its thickness). You don't need much pressure at all with the Q2546A - you don't WANT much pressure at all - the weight of the iron is usually enough. --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, michael tenore <wb2lcw@...> wrote:

Having recently switched from 220gsm paper to 150 (60 to 40 lbs roughly), the shift was surprisingly large: from as-hot-as-it-can-go- and-push-real-hard to just-medium-iron-and-work-it-up-and-down-a-few- times. Sometime this week DJ Delorie said "you just want to make the toner sticky, not melt it", so I'm going for a less-heat-more-pressure approach. And, I think, getting reasonable results. PG

Hi ! I recieved my GBC H535 laminator today from UPS and I checked out the manual! It says the maximum passtrough thickness is .1 inch 2.54mm. I willl not have a board to try out for a couple of days. The max temperature so far is 338 degrees F. But the speed is variable. Stay tuned Regards Mike

Good deal Mike - we will "stay tuned". What printer/toner are you using? As you saw from an earlier post, I'm VERY interested in a laminator that will work with the Brother 2140 printer. That toner seesm to require a higher temperature than normal toners. There is a label inside the cover on the printer that says "Caution - 415F" and shows the toner as "TN-330/TN-360" Does anyone know what that toner label means? Are there two types of toner? Thanks to all for any info. 73 de Ken H> --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, michael tenore <wb2lcw@...> wrote:

Mine has been hacked to include a temperature controller, so I can make it hotter than normal, which seems to help with my toner. Doesn't need to be on fancy paper or mailed flat; it either sticks or it doesn't. http://www.delorie.com/electronics/laminator/

New York much have a LOT more than here in Fairhope, AL - not too many on Craig's List - been watching that list some before I purchased the new Brother 2140 for $60 shipped. Then next day after placing the order, I discovered the high temperature toner it has. Ken H> --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, michael tenore <wb2lcw@...> wrote:
