Well, IEEE1394/firewire also works with windows, provided that you have the
appropriate hardware.

I believe that the reason for the price disparity between USB2 equipment
and firewire equipment has more to do with the comparably hefty patent
licensing fees associated with IEEE1394.

Keep in mind, though, that firewire generally gives better real world
performance than USB2.
