I don't think that prevents loading samples (e.g. GPO, Ultrabeat...) eat time does it? But your other idea will definitely work - just open the song once, create new empty tracks, move your regions to them, then delete the previous audio tracks/objects so you lose the plugs fast. Then save as "temp song file" so you don't mess it up. then copy the regions to the new song.
