You need to "terminate" the note, so to speak, by placing another note (which you would have done, if that's what you wanted) or placing a rest, which is what I am guessing you want. So the note goes on 3_1 and you have to physically place an 1/8th rest on 3_2 (if your smallest division is 8). Quantize has nothing to do with this.
