inputing notes with a mouse in score editor

inputing notes with a mouse in score editor

2006-03-25 by David

Hi - I am a new user of logic express. I am trying to input notes into
the score editor via a mouse.

Here is what I've done

1. created an empty region in the arranger window
2. opened up the score editor

my staff shows 4/4 time and an automatically inserted whole rest.

a. I input a quarter rest on the first beat - no problem
b. I input a quarter note on the second beat - no problem
c. I try to input an eighth note on the 3rd beat - keeps appearing as
a quarter note.

I have tried this with quantize on at different settings like 1/8,
1/16, 1/32

I have tried it with quantize off

I have tried changing the time signature from 4/4 to 16/8

None of these have any effect.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

You need to "terminate" the note, so to speak, by placing another note
(which you would have done, if that's what you wanted) or placing a
rest, which is what I am guessing you want. So the note goes on 3_1
and you have to physically place an 1/8th rest on 3_2 (if your smallest
division is 8). Quantize has nothing to do with this.
