It seems like I go through spells of stability and instability with no clue as to what causes the change. One thing that seems to cause a lot of crashes is using a lot of plugs and virtual instruments - instead of getting audio warnings, just bam it dies. One thing you can do, is to create a new autoload file from scratch - in case there is corruptin in your autoload, then it gets into every new song. Create a new tempate (perhaps by renaming the existing ones), then copy things over part by part. And of course, there is the option of creating a new boot disk, re-install Logic, and leave out anything that is not absolutely necessary. I check all demo software in Garageband on a different mac .
