That is probably your problem.  I've run demos off of the internal 
drive on my Powerbook and they ran fine.  7.2 was the first Universal 
Binary version of Logic.  The most probable reason that you weren't 
getting the performance that you expect is that Logic was being run 
under Rosetta emulation for it to run on an Intel processor.  Your 
version of Live is probably also not a UB version.  HTH and good luck,
