Re: [Logic_Cafe] Re: [LUG] [LAW] Which folder do Plugins Go

2006-12-05 by GAmoore@aol.com

I agree with what Mike said. However I would add a few comments.
- "Components" means Audio Units. So if you have VST plugs they go in another
folder in the plugins which is a sister folder to components.
- Also don't forget that in addition to there being two places for plugins
(harddisk and username), there are also two places for presets for those plugs.
The automatic installers for third party plugs seem to use both, or one or the
other.
- I seem to recall the Logic manual saying that Logic searches in three
places for plugs and pre-sets.
- I create another folder called "unused components" to get rid of junky
stuff, shareware, or things I never use so they don't clutter up menu, and slow
down AU validation.

Its a bit of headache at time. Especially if you create your own presets and
use different computers and want to consolidate them. Maybe they need to have
a general AU installer/manager.
