You can audition midi loops not using Logic at all. Quicktime has midi and 
can play midi files direct from OS X. They sound cheesy, but they are much more 
convenient to test. You don't need to assign instruments or the tempo. 

Not sure how to answer your question. I found (about a year or two ago) that 
I could not drag 20 audio files into Logic. I spent a long time with tech 
support and the answer ended up being that Logic had a bug that you could only 
drag 10 things. So there might be a similar limitation.
