Importing multi midi sequences

Importing multi midi sequences

2007-02-04 by Gregory

Hey, I am trying to shovel hundreds of midi loops I've acquired into
a logic song where I can audition them as needed. Ideally, we'd have
a midi loop browser that functions the same way as the audio loop
browser, but I haven't seen such a thing, so this is my workaround.

The problem is that I have to drag the midi files one at a time onto
the arrange window. If I select a bunch and drag them to arrange,
only the 1st one shows up. Does anyone know a way to speed up this
process? I really don't want to drag hundreds of loops over, one at
a time.

Thanks,

Gregory

You can audition midi loops not using Logic at all. Quicktime has midi and
can play midi files direct from OS X. They sound cheesy, but they are much more
convenient to test. You don't need to assign instruments or the tempo.

Not sure how to answer your question. I found (about a year or two ago) that
I could not drag 20 audio files into Logic. I spent a long time with tech
support and the answer ended up being that Logic had a bug that you could only
drag 10 things. So there might be a similar limitation.

Try just double-clicking on one of the file icons, right in the folder. My system defaults to
openning the file with Quicktime for an audition/playing of the file.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
