Someone asked about how to use audio sample cd's. I forgot what a pain they are. I got the BT Twisted Tectures. Its really good quality for swooshes, and such. There are two cds with 99 tracks each. Within each track is one to four actual samples which need to be extracted. This would have been quite time consuming in earlier versions of logic. I'll outline the process for anyone interested. 1. put the cd in the tray, open logic, go to audio window, add audio files, select the cd, hit one track, then click on 'add all'. 2. (optional) from audio window, choose all, go to menu Copy/Convert and copy all tracks to a scratch folder on a the hard disk. 3. grab all of them in the audio window, then drag and drop them to a single audio track on the arrange page. 4. (optional) zoom to a comfortable horizontal scale, select the arrange track whcih will select all audio regions. then drag from left to right, to de-select everything roughly in the width of the window. leave the right most regions selected, then move those to bar 1 of the next audio track in the arrange window, ... continue in this way until you can see all regions without any scrolling. 5. select the right most region on each track, key command for strip audio, move right to left (because when it splits the audio into separate regions, it can be become confusing which the next one is, but if you go R to L, its easy to see). Sometimes you have tweak the strip silence parameters a little. 6. when you are done, select everything in the arrange window, menu Convert Regions to Audio Files, and move them to a new folder (one for each CD because there will be name conflicts with both CD's having the same track names). Then you are done. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
