I can confirm that it's baby brother, the FireBox can function as a standalone 2 x mic pre when it's power supply is on. Makes for a handy DI box for me at times - so I'd be surprised if the FirePod didn't offer similar functionality. Why not email Presonus support. I've found them very helpful...
