One trick is to hit PAUSE then un-PAUSE rather than PLAY. For some reason, hitting Play makes Logic freakout but Pause allows it to get its act together and then play in many borderline cases. You can also bounce all tracks to audio and then just play audio with no plugins at all. Its like freezing the files, but I did have some crashes at times when freezing or unfreezing.
