You know,

     I was playing some virtual piano last night, in an empty session and had the same type 
of problem/sound.  I noticed thatthe sustain pedal seemed to be more of a culprit for 
creating my problem than anything else!  

      I still don't know the answer, but it's nice to have a clue into this mystery added.
