Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

Hello,
Outside of price, I understand there is no difference between Logic 
7.2 Pro Version and Logic 7.2 Pro Academic Version. I believe that the 
academic version is not cross upgradable to the next full version 
(i.e. Logic Pro 7.2 Academic to Logic 8 (whenever that comes out). I 
have someone who claims that they will sell me the Pro Version (non-
acad) version with the USB dongle (they are the original owner) for 
$500. This seems a bit too good to be true, as most academic versions 
I see factory sealed on eBay go for around this price.

What's the real deal on upgrades/crossgrades? Is academic only 
upgradable to the next academic version?
