A follow up on this issue: Pitch bend range can be adjusted in every Logic instrument, and possibly differently for every patch. The default in Logic 7 is 2 (i.e, two semitones). In every interface there is a "bend" box, and that is the value that needs to be changed to match the controllers range. Most like, controller ranges can be set as well, although some cheaper ones come with a fixed value of 12 (one full octave).
