Pitch bend range adjustment

Pitch bend range adjustment

2007-08-25 by mnfraga

Hi all,

Newbie here. I've been searching the archive for some answers, and found many many many
useful information there.

I need to know, however, how to 'adjust' the pitch bend range to match that of the
controllers. Is it fixed in Logic? If not, how can I set it?

Thanks,

Marcelo

I think pitch bend is a midi command that goes -64 to + 64 or something likes
that (128 range). However, the keyboard itself will set the range of the
pitch bend. Sometimes its a whole step or sometimes an octave. So its a
combination of Logic and the device. Even different patches on the same synth will have
different settings for the pitch bend range.

Greg.

Hi Greg and all,

Thanks for your message.

It looks like I'm having the classic 'different pitch bend range
conflict' between my controller and Logic. The controller re-sends
pitch bend range as a global setting once it's turned on. That's why I
thought there would be some fixed adjustment in Logic that would
synchronize it with my controller.

I'll try messing with the MIDI PB range messages and will post when I
find something.

Thanks,

Mano

A follow up on this issue:

Pitch bend range can be adjusted in every Logic instrument, and
possibly differently for every patch. The default in Logic 7 is 2
(i.e, two semitones).

In every interface there is a "bend" box, and that is the value that
needs to be changed to match the controllers range.

Most like, controller ranges can be set as well, although some cheaper
ones come with a fixed value of 12 (one full octave).
