In the downloadable manual it explains it.  Nodes can process Logic  
plugs ( with a few exceptions such as exs-24) and can also process  
3rd party AU effects plugins (not instruments though).  You need your  
AU plugins installed on the main machine as well as *all* node  
machines.  Also, the AU plugin must be the exact same version in all  
cases.  I'm not sure how the UAD-1 and Powercore plugins will operate  
in this regard.  It does not explicitly say anything about the dsp- 
based AU plugins.  If I had to hazard a guess, I would think that you  
would need the same plugin versions installed on all machines but  
also that all node machines would require a DSP card installed with  
the appropriate plugins licenses authorized too.  That's just a guess  
though.  It's not like you're going to get the power of 3 UAD's when  
you only have one card in your main machine.

I can't recall now if it is in the effects manual or the main Logic  
Studio manual but I believe it was in one of those two that I read it.
