Are you referring to the output numbers near the vertical "led" meter? Those show how close you are to the maximum level for the track (if you go too high into the red, you'll get digital distortion). On the faders themselves they are showing how much amplification is being given to each track (there are two different ways logic will display these - in db or 0-127). A track has a certain volume, and the fader either makes it loud or softer - so the fader shows what that is - whereas the meter show the overall result.
