You got it!   

     Any rewire track can be rendered to audio now in 8.  Just (like you said) set the output 
to a bus and create an audio track with that bus as an input, arm to record and ... ba da 
bing, ba da boom.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
