I have found that if you keep your projects on an external drive, I use an exernal LaCie FW-800 drive, and record your files to this drive, performance is much better. You say plenty of RAM. What is Plenty? I have 2-gigs. Also, what KHz are your projects? 44.1, 48, 72, 96? The larger the number, the more taxing it is on the system.
