Node computer queries

2008-04-19 by Jon Scordia

Hi List. I'm just finishing setting up full Logic on a new (well
Certified Reconditioned) 8 core Mac Pro.

I noticed in the Logic manual that a G5 or Intel processor are
requirements for node machines. I thought when I looked at the specs
on the Apple site some time ago that my G4 1GHz Powerbook could act as
a node.

Has Logic 8 changed this requirement?

Having said that we have another couple of machines on our network, a
Core Duo Mini and a G5 Powermac that could act as Nodes, currently
only networked wirelessly.

Can anyone recommend the simplest way of networking three machines via
Ethernet without having to understand the black art of networking??

The Mac Pro does have two Ethernet channels but one will be taken up
with internet connection (no wireless onboard)

Thanks

Jon
