Re: [Logic_Cafe] Audio interface

2008-08-24 by Gregory Anderson

I would stay away from Alesis. No one offers more features for less
money, but every piece of Alesis hardware I have bought has had big
problems that required either returning it or trashing it. Including
the io/14. I like the designs, but the electronics inside must be
really cheap.

The problem is, aside from Alesis, almost no one makes interfaces
with 4 pre-amps. You usually get 2 mic inputs, like on the Firebox
or the FA-66, which are at your price point, or you skip up to 8 mic
inputs, like on the FP-10, which is considerably more.

I have several lower-end interfaces (FP-10, EZBus, M-Audio Duo,
Inspire) but my favorite is an old MOTU 828 MK1 that I got off ebay
for $200. Only 2 mic inputs though.

Good luck.
