I should rephrase my important question: Will our software be adapted
to take advantage of 64-bit memory addressing?
It seems like Apple is always overhyping their stuff. I recall them running tv ads 1.5 years ago saying that they had the first 64 bit processor and it was so powerful it could not be exported to certain countries. And now we're still waiting for that integration. In the same way, OS X was supposed to have all these great features, and never crashes (it does), easier to maintain (it isn't), faster (most definitely not), etc. And going further back, when the powerpc came out 1994, they had to re-write the OS (I think it was 7.5)... but years later in 8 and 9 they were still talking about 68000 code that was just then being converted to PowerPC code.
By the way, I saw one site with a rumor that 3.0 g G5's will be announced next week. We might know tomorow.
