Re: [Logic_Cafe] Re: Studio Monitor Headphones

2009-03-27 by Charles Franklin

I have a pair of the AKG 240 for mixing and they do the job. Although, I say I get a brighter represntation when using them and lose a little of the bassier frequencies. They are good for a quick mix, and then off to the monitors the next day for a proper one.

my 2 cents

Steve,

When you say "studio monitor headphones" do you mean you want to mix in headphones?

I tell my audio students: Don't mix in headphones, but if you absolutely have to. Use AKG 240 headphones.

The open ear headphone will tend to give a flatter, more monitor-like response. But have a lot of bleed to offer the microphone if you want to use them for tracking vocals or something.

If you are looking for headphones for musicians to track with. Maybe others have strong suggestions. I spent a gift certificate at Guitar Center and bought some kind of $40 Sennheisers. They work fine. I know there's better ones out there for comfort, but they aren't bad.

Pete
