Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

Hi,
I just got the NI Kompakt player with my EWQL Symphonic Orch Gold 
package.

I'm a little confused on this working paradigm.  There's the ability to 
bring up to 8 instruments within one multiplayer.
What's the intended purpose?
Layering?
Saving all in one Multi instrument so that you can copy and paste in 
the Audio Config window?
I feel lost here.

It seems way cool though probably much more than I'll ever use - also 
Intakt and Kontakt too.
