I'm also using a Tascam FW-1884 with all of the current drivers, and  
I'm not having any trouble. It seems like you've done all of the  
correct things to troubleshoot this problem. Is the problem still  
persisting? I hate to say it, but it's always possible that your  
hardware has gone bad and needs to be serviced.
