Did you open the AU Manager and have it re-examine your audio unit plug ins? Its sort of a separate program but it only runs from within Logic - like the key command window. As for compressors, there are dozens of them. There are software companies which essentially are founded on building compressors and eq software - such as URS, Sonalkysis, etc - however they are often quite expensive. However I would take note of these : PSP just released a new one called OldTimer which is only $99. http://www.pspaudioware.com/ Fabfilter has a cool one too which is not too much. http://www.fabfilter.com/products/pro-c.php Also Izotope and Wavearts have some channel strip plugs which might be useful. If you going to get into serious money, you should get a UAudio card - they have the best emulations.
