Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

I have found this whole process hit and miss. Yeah any 3rd party VSTs 
are probably gone - although you could try that VST wrapper thing. If 
there were any Logic plugins they would probably retain their settings 
because they are built in to logic and neither VST nor AU.

Whatever I get, I'll need to buy online unless it's version 9.

I'd rather not buy a full version of 9 first only to find out

I still need an older version to read 5.5 PC files.  At least

if I buy the minimum version first (Pro or Express, doesn't

matter to me, whatever works), I only have to pay the upgrade

price to 9 (unless I can find  full version of 9 for cheap!).

That's why I need to know for sure.



I'd be extremely surprised if any of my VST plug-in settings

would carry over because they'd be completely different than the AU

equivalents.  I'm already prepared to do that part by hand (and it

will be very painful for sure!).



Really, if possible I'd like advise on the recommended version for

this kind of conversion from someone who has already hit this wall.

I just don't want to e
nd up buying the wrong thing.  (Oh if only

SSL's Pro Convert wasn't such an insane price!)
