Yes.  There looks to be a new way of beat matching, which I have not investigated, but here's the old way that I've used for years:

1.  Go through the song and record a midi part on whatever beat division you want.  The more tempo fluctuations the smaller division you want, but for rock, I would just use whole notes.  I usually do it by ear first, then go back and edit the midi file for any beats I missed.

2.  Move all midi and audio that is presently in sync to the beginning of measure 1

3.  Show the beat mapping global track (view - configure global tracks)

4.  Select midi guide track you recorded and click on "Beats from Region" in the beat mapping.

I don't have Logic in front of me, but I think that's the whole process.  If you already have some midi tracks recorded in sync with the audio, you want to protect them, and things can go horribly wrong with them, so if possible, do the beat mapping before adding any midi, just to be safe.

Like I said, there's probably an easier way now, but I just did this last week and it worked as always.  

I'm stil using v.8, so don't know if anything has changed in v.9
