Hi. Introducing myself.
My name is Wilfried Dockx from Belgium - Antwerp.

Hi Wilfried, welcome aboard.

ot myself a new (used) G4, so thinkin' about getting myself
Logic Pro 7 of Express 7.
I'm not a professional but an amateur home recorder but like to get
pro results.
If not the prize of the Logic Pro 7 vs Express 7 make the difference,
should I go for the Logic Pro 7 or would that be overkill?

It depends on what you are doing exactly. A lot of midi and little audio
and few plug ins should be fine for the G4, however, I just upgraded to
G5 for logic. Regarding Pro versus Express, it seems that Express is a
really good deal. I saw it being sold for $99 in the store as an upgrade
to Garage Band I think (or maybe it was an upgrade to the now discontinued
Soundtrack). But you can get Logic Pro for $499 if you have connections
to an educational institution or know someone who does. You can check
Apple's webpage to see a matrix of the differences in the two programs.
