7.1

7.1

installed 7.1, looks about the same. It looks like Apple read my mind (or my post from a month or two ago) and made it possible to easily drag Ultrabeat patterns to the arrange window and further edit them there. I made a demo song...one track of ultrabeat, one track of Novation Vstation, then tried to put FM7 on... crash. Having an immediate crash has become a standard procedure for using any new version of logic, so I am warmly comforted by this familiar action. Someone will say I am being negative to even say anything, so I'll just enjoy these quiet moments of losing my work by myself.

By the way, unrelated to this (because its currently not even in my 'puter) but the UAudio board will cause Macs not to waken from sleep. They know of the problem and are working on it.

are you sure Vstation and FM7 are compatible with 7.1?

with any new software versions there are bound to be incompatibilities.
it's a fact. if you'd prefer not to experience these incompatibilities
you shouldn't upgrade right away. If you prefer to live on the bleeding
edge then you need to accept the fact that you will encounter
incompatibilities. It's one thing if you were using strictly Logic
instruments but using third-party plugins with a brand-spankin new
version will always be a risky endeavor. this is the case with all
applications that allow for third-party plugins (Photoshop, anyone?).

make sure you contact Novation and Native Instruments to report the
incompatibility. they may already be working on an update.

Well I repaired permissions, and rebooted logic, and tried it again, and it worked. I ended up with 7 vi tracks of Vstation and FM7 and no further crash. I've come to accept Logic crashes as a "cost of doing business" with Logic. And I'm at my wit's end as to the causes. Thanks for your comments.

FM7 doesn't pass validation for me. Is it actually validating for anyone else?

You do send a crash report each time I hope? :o) (With a full trace list,
Apple might not be at their wit's end).

Maurits.

It didn't pass at first, just as many didn't (a few months ago). But all of the makers of the VIs posted updates and I believe they all passed.

To be clear, I am referring to 7.1 here. It worked fine in 7.0, but now seems to be broken in Tiger and 7.1. Battery 2 is also now broken along with a couple others for me. Apple added some new validation items which I believe are causing these new failures...

Thats good to know. When I fired up 7.1 it did an authorization but it didn't give me an error messages so i figured it went through fine. If anyone hears of an update for NI stuff, please post it here for everyone.

I checked NI's website and there is a bit of a list of plugs which won't validate under 10.4
(Tiger) which DID validate previously under 10.3.9 - including Battery, Intact, and Garritan
(but FM7 was not mentioned I think). I found that only Battery 2 does not validate for me.
They say they are working on a solution, but at the current moment there is no solution so
you might have to deactivate those plugs for now.

Of course there was no notification, despite Tiger being out for two months. What if alll your
songs used Battery and suddenly its gone? I would have held off on upgrading to Tiger.
