adding audio sample to an existing tempo

adding audio sample to an existing tempo

2005-05-26 by m8xxm8n

Hi

I think I was once shown a way to match the tempo when adding a new audio file
to an
existing project. Right now I am fighting with Recycle and find it not
cooperating when
preparing an audio file to be placed in an on-going song. Is there a way of
setting Logic so
that once I have a project going on I can bring in a piece of audio and adjust
it without
screwing up the tempo of an existing project?

Thanks in advance

There may be a way to do bring audio in and adjust tempo - was it option drag the corner of the audio in Arrange? But to be safe, open a new empty Logic song, bring in your audio. Then change the tempo for the audio in the sample editor time machine. Then bring that audio into your other song.

I would test it too. After you change the tempo in the sample editors, bring it back to the arrange page. If its two bars long, then select two bars for the locators, select your audio, then use the key command to set tempo by object size. See if the global tempo is 120 or 119.537. Depending on how much of a perfectionist you are (and how many times you are going to loop it), you can copy and paste a tiny bit of quiet audio to extend it at the end (or middle) to make it loop properly.

Abelton Live does this kind of thing by the way.
