Audio object constraints

2005-08-02 by JANEK SCHAEFER

Hi team..

Thank you to those of you who wrote back about me wanting to use automation features to bring in and out the master ‘wetmix’ processing on any given audio object plugin... I’ve found that running a bus is in fact the best way of doing that so far... All new to me as I like to keep it all simple..

But I have to say having migrated from version 4.7 of Logic into 7.1 has been an enjoyable experience... The automation and other new features are really very powerful.... [took me about 6 weeks to go from OS 9 to OSX and make everything do it as I like it again – pain but worth it now]

I have a really simple new question: can’t find the answer anywhere...

Q: in the audio arrange window I can not work out how to just simply move audio objects around the screen without them being constrained to 90degree angles... If you hold down Shift on a Mac then that allows you to move the object anywhere freely, but it very annoying to have to press an extra button to move things around....

Anybody got a suggestion – looked in prefs and snaps and instructions – everywhere..

thanks
Janek

There is a preference to constrain movement in the arrange and matrix
windows. Its one of the preferences or song settings. You can move up/down, the let
go, then left/right. Unfortunately, I find it necessary to leave that
preference on, because if I move a region down, it sometimes migrates a little
left/right and the position gets screwed up. So its safer to keep it constrained. I
often find my regions starting at 1 1 1 2 or worse for some reason.

Janek
Tanks for your help on the constrained dragging issue...
So again I looked in preferences, and hey presto it appeared to me... So I
am happy and can constrain away with shift when need be

Thank you

Janek
