Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

Hi,

I am new to LP - so please bear with my novice question. I am coming 
from ProTools and find LP little intimidating.

I'm using SampleTank 2.0 XL with Logic Pro 7.1.1 on a Tiger (OS-X 
10.4.2) system. Unfortunately, there is not enough documentation for 
configuring the ST2/XL as a multi-timberal plug-in. From what I 
understood, here is what I've done so far:

   * created a Multi Instrument in the Environment and enabled all 
16 channels on it

   * created an Audio Object and linked the two together

   * inserted SampleTank/2 as an Insert in the Audio Object

After this, I created a track wih Audio Instrument (in the Arrange 
window) and assigned a patch on MIDI channel 1 for ST2/XL. This 
worked fine.

Next, I created another track for MIDI channel 2 and assigned a 
different patch on MIDI channel 2 and played it - it played fine 
too. But the channel setting for the previous track also changed to 
2!  

What am I doing wrong?? It works fine in Pro Tools.
