coloured track icons

coloured track icons

2006-08-15 by bty639796

Sorry this a bit long - and I've posted this elsewhere. Hoping
someone here has the magic solution...
I'm on 7.2 and trying to set up an Autoload Song for students to use
at a school, with coloured track icons where the colours relate to
the different banks on a Roland SC88Pro.
On my previous system (v5 on PC) it worked because the icons were
the old small black and white ones. In the manual on p. 113 it says
that 'the small monochromatic icons adopt the color of their parent
Audio or Midi Instrument Object', but that the high res Arrange
icons don't. Unfortunately these are the only ones that my version
7.2 seems to have (they are mainly a fetching dismal orange colour).
My old version only had black and white ones and that worked a
treat, with each track icon taking on the colour I set for the
objects so that you could see at a glance even before recording
anything which Bank was selected on the SC88Pro .
On p.112 the manual mentions a Logic Resources/Icons folder, but
that doesn't seem to exist either.
Can't seem to find where the old v5 icons are stored, was hoping I
could import at least one.
Any ideas anyone??? Thanks

Hi Diane
Not sure, but two things you may consider.

1. You can seet a track to be a color. A little color tab will appear for
most (but not all ) colors. There are key and menu commands to send track color
to objects on the tracks.

2. The icons can be messed with. I saw this done by Darren, the logic teacher
at the local apple store. I can't recall the directory now, but he took a
picture of himself, and went into the directory and created an icon used in logic
of his picture. Perhaps you can find a disk wth the older version of logic
and search around for the icon folder and see if you can bring some over.

Hi,

You can photoshop icons (I think this is what you want, but I'm not
sure, to find the icons, go to (trying to translate the Dutch into
English here): Programs -> Logic Pro (right click on it and open the
package) -> Resources -> Images -> Icons -> here you can download the
pictures and change them. Just make sure they are called "number".png
and the background is transparant.

Hope this helps.

1. Create your custom icon in Adobe Photoshop or equivalent.
***Tip*** Icons look better if the background is transparent.
2. Save as a png file
3. Icon size must be 128 pixels x 128 pixels
4. Name the icon with a number that correlates to an empty icon slot
in your current Logic Icon list. example: 86.png Then drop the icon
in that slot
5. Go to: Users/Yourname/Library/Application Support/Logic
     * Create a folder called Images
     * In this folder create a folder called Icons
     * Put your custom icons in here
These must be .png files with named with a number below 325. Each
custom icon replaces one of the default icons with that number.
