OT: best aiff/sample editor?

OT: best aiff/sample editor?

2006-10-23 by tony vincent

i¹m looking for a solid, yet rather inexpensive editor‹ mostly for editing
full songs down to 30-90 second clips for a web page‹ most likely exporting
to mp3 format. (good sounding file edits, fades, etc...) what¹s the best
app to do this in? logic? peak? another?
tv
mac dual g5
logic pro 7.1.2
MH 2882- ULN-2

Hi, have a look at dsp quattro, its made by one of the makers of DSound Pro (Great OS9
editor) its what I use, it doesn't natively support exporting to mp3 but you can use a
(freeware) 3rd party quicktime 'plug' (lame encoder or similar) to do it from its export
menu (have to download it seperately). It can use AU/VST plugins for rendering as well as
the ability to use AU/VST instruments. Its a great editor that offers lots of facets for lots of
different editing needs (hardware sampler transfer etc.) Its not really a 'single window'
editor but it'll do pretty much any job you want it to including cd burning. Try the demo
and see if it suits you.

You can just itunes. Open a song, get info, go to the options tab, and edit
the start and end time. then re-convert it to mp3 and I think it only converts
the times you specify. if that doesn't work, you easily use logic to trim the
audio then convert.

I met the guys who make DSP Quatro at NAMM and they are very nice. I tried it
out and its very well designed audio editing software. They have put their
energy into making it do one thing well rather than doing a lot of different
things. They may have a 30 day free trial like I got on cd.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
