Can't get Logic to Assign my Oxygen8...

Can't get Logic to Assign my Oxygen8...

2006-12-03 by c_eisenhardt

Hey All...
I posted this question on LUG but didn't even get one nibble! Man, Oh man!
If anybody out there has the m-audio oxygen8 MIDI controler and can tell me what
I'm
doing wrong, it'd be much appreciated... On to the posting...:

I have an m-audio Oxygen8 MIDI controler which I use to play Logic's
internal software synths as well as my external hardware synths, when
selected.
When I started out on Logic Express back in May, I was able to simply map
the Oxygen8 "transport" controls to Logic's transport. -No brainer.
I upgraded to Logic-Pro some months ago and have not had the same luck being
able to get Logic to recognize these MIDI command messages for transport
control. What gives?
My Oxygen8 is hooked up to my PowerBook G4 (1.67Ghz; 2 Gigs RAM; running the
latest versions of Logic Pro & OSX) via a direct USB cable.
Once again, Logic sees the MIDI info coming from the Oxygen8. (Not only does
the Oxy8 play all my instruments when selected, the transport window "shows"
any MIDI command coming into it, as I press buttons on the Oxy8.)
That's the strange part. If I push a button or turn a knob on the Oxy8, the
transport window in Logic, shows the info it is receiving.
Why can I not simply map certain key commands but be allowed to play notes?
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks...

charlie

I have another m-audio keyboard and it seems to not adapt as easily as
expected. There is actually an entire list on yahoo for m-audio keyboards :
M-Audio_Enigma@yahoogroups.com
That list also has some files applicable to all m-audio keyboards and Logic
explicitly.
At one point, I called tech support and the answer was to reset the m-audio.

Hey,

I have an Oxygen 8 (v.2) with the transport controls. I've had
mixed luck. It seems like I can go into Logic, in the Keyboard
Shortcuts editor (whatever it's called) and I can go into each
function and tell it to recognize the MIDI action I am selecting for
that function. That's how I got the transport to work. Then I had a
problem with the sequencer stopping unwanted or something .... so I
think what I did was hit the function in the editor that was something
like "re-callibrate all MIDI commands." Then I started building from
scratch, and saved that shortcut set.

This editor is also cool for using a standard keyboard, because you
can program your top three notes on the piano keyoboard, or the bottom
three to be record, stop, play ... or whatever you want.

     Pete
