real-time input in score

real-time input in score

2007-03-05 by Harry Habets

Hello there,

I hope someone can answer my question.

What I would like to do is record a midi-track, go back and create an
empty track, open both of them in the score-window, and start recording
the second track while I'm watching the notes of the first track. That
way I can play along with my first recording more easily, because you
can 'read ahead' a little bit. I've searched the manual with no luck, is
there a way to do this? I'm new to Logic, so probably I miss something.

Thanks, Harry

It seems Logic is not really great at opening two of the same window and
keeping them in sync in their respective areas (two matrix, two score, two audio,
two event). This is one area I wish they would improve. I would like to open a
single window with lanes for a bunch of tracks at once.

In your case, (I am not at Logic now but I think this works) maybe try
putting the prerecorded one on track A, and putting a single blank region on Track
B. Then select both and open the score window, and make sure it shows both.
Then start at the beginning and hit record. However, you don't really need to see
your new notation at the time you record do you? You can just open the
original one, and have it move along in synce.

Thanks for the input, I've tried this, but as I hit record the window
changes to just the track I'm recording.
Well, perhaps just not possible....
