Hey Everyone, Just checking with the group to see if anyone has an opinion on these. It seems they are constantly on Ebay, all the time. just wondering. thanks Tom

Hey... Vocoders use filters or chanels to process sound. The more the clearer. The Korg honestly isn't that good. And for what you'd spend on hardware you could get a good software vocoder plug-in like Orange Vocoder or EliosSound Vocoder. By the way.. are you aware that Logic Pro 7 has a pretty good built in Vocoder ?? Unless you specifically need it for live shows, I'd stick to the software versions, because the state of technology [ie: number of good filters] makes them better than the old school hardware versions. Also the new Korg hardware synth has one built in as well.. dunno how good it is... Hope this helps... -Man Parrish --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "tomdcarden" <tomdcarden@...> wrote:

Thanks for the response. Yeah i;ve used Logic's vocoder but honestly had trouble understanding the words when using. thought maybe it was inferior but i can't say i've tried it enough times. although, i've run drums and stuff through it and really like it. i'm sure you're right about software and i was thinking of getting Orange by NI, but lately i've been missing having hardware stuff laying around, ...know whatta ah mean?! --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "Man Parrish" <realnyc@...> wrote: > > Hey... > > Vocoders use filters or chanels to process sound. A friend of mine has one and uses it on gigs. Speaks highly of it. He is a heavy logic user and has the ability to use the Logic EVOC20 vocoder on gigs. Personally between the vocoder in Logic and the one in Reason (BV512 .. or whatever it's called) I feel fully equipped in the vocoder department. Maybe Korg would have a compelling demo video? Or on YouTube there might be something floating around? Pete --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "tomdcarden" <tomdcarden@...> wrote:

This guy posted a cool tutorial, including Logic session! May show you a way of routing the EVOC to get a better result?? http://www.petethomas.co.uk/logic-sidechain.html --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "tomdcarden" <tomdcarden@...> wrote: > > Thanks for the response. > > Yeah i;ve used Logic's vocoder but honestly had trouble understanding the words when > using. thought maybe it was inferior but i can't say i've tried it enough times. although, > i've run drums and stuff through it and really like it. > > i'm sure you're right about software and i was thinking of getting Orange by NI, but lately > i've been missing having hardware stuff laying around, ...know whatta ah mean?! > > > > > --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "Man Parrish" <realnyc@> wrote: > > > > Hey... > > > > Vocoders use filters or chanels to process sound. I have a Micro-Korg & as far as hardware synths go, I love it...
Great sounds... Kinda like a poor man's Access Virus...
I love it.

Thanks Pete, looks good. i love tutorials. I HIGHLY recommend this guy's podcast, they are all on Logic and it's plug-ins. He's got tutorials using the EVOC, EXS and Space Designer. I realize there is always some new thing to learn with this stuff. http://soundsgood.37hz.net/ --- In Logic_Cafe@yahoogroups.com, "pete_buchwald" <pete_buchwald@...> wrote: > > This guy posted a cool tutorial, including Logic session!
