Anybody Know How to Arpeggiate?

Anybody Know How to Arpeggiate?

2007-08-02 by pete_buchwald

Hey,

The only info I can find online is pretty old. Can anybody talk us through this, quick and
easy? Or can you save a session and post it as a file?

     Much thanks,

       Pete

Do you want to use Logic's arpegiator? Well, it is old. I think you need to
go to the environment window, then cable the arp between the midi input and the
synth multi instrument. Or something like that.

Did you try Len Sasso's swiftkick.com site? I think Len is one of the best
writers for Logic, and he has a bunch of freely downloadable environments.

I'll take any (Logic) arpeggiator. I know I've seen arpeggiator
patches in ... the EXS24, I think it was.

Just trying to expand my creative tool repertoire.

Thanks for the link!!!

Pete

open the environment window and choose new environment> arpeggiator.
To be used, the Arpeggiator Object must be cabled to a MIDI device, and Logic's Transport
must be running. You can use the arpeggiator to arpeggiate MIDI data in realtime, or you
can record its output by cabling it to the Sequencer Input Object ( be sure to record to a
No Output track so you don't hear everything doubled).
By the way: the Arpeggiator Object offers various parameters: direction, velocity, key
limit,resolution,lenght,snap to,repeat,octaves,crescendo,controller.
You can use more than a single Arpeggiator Object in a single Environment construction
so you can build your own arpeggiator macro or structure.

Hope this helps.

The environment arp can be used with any midi source. However, in the ES2
there is 'vector' function which works like an arp too. A number of (non-Logic)
plugs have arps built in - such as Albino, FM8, Blue, etc.

And here's a related question --

Can you "arpeggiate" automation? More specifically, how do you time-sync
automation so that a given assignable controller varies with the beat?

Do you have to use regional MIDI automation to do this, or can you use
Logic's "native" automation?
