Lean install for Logic 8

Lean install for Logic 8

2007-09-19 by mnfraga

Hi everybody,

for those already using Logic 8, is there a way you can make the
installation lighter?

The full install of Logic 8 takes up 40+ GB of drive space, with the
Jam Packs and everything. The "Audio content" itself is 15GB, the jam
Packs 20GB.

I decided not to use the packs, but couldn't quite make my mind on the
audio content, and I couldn't see a broken down list of applications.
Has anyone tried to go over the package and see what are all the
things that are installed?

Thanks,

Marcelo

Well when doing the setup for the install if you click on the arrows
next to folders and open up the hierarchy of the Logic Content
selection, it tells you exactly whats being installed and how much space
each piece takes.

Its pretty obvious you just uncheck the components you dont want to
install. All you really need to install is Logic Pro for a minimal system.

You could also later do a reinstallation of parts you didn't install
in the first place. Like when you have a bigger startup disk, or
something similar :-). --Kent

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
