Sound output issue (and an introduction)

Sound output issue (and an introduction)

2007-11-16 by Shawn Thorpe

Hello! I joined this group today and look forward to learning from (and
contributing to) it. I have a new Intel Mac Mini 2.0 ghz and Logic Studio.
I'm using a Tascam FW-1884 as my interface/control surface. For some
reason, I can't hear any audio output through the FW-1884. I created a
project with one track, record enabled the track and set up the correct
microphone input. I can see the signal from the mic registering in the
software, so I know I have a valid signal. I've also opened the Loop
Browser and played some loops, and I can see that signal is being registered
on my Output 1-2 track. But I can't hear anything. I have the FW-1884's
main output jacks connected to a pair of working Audix powered monitors
(I've tested the monitors with other sources). I'm not getting anything
through the headphone jack, either. I'm guessing that there's probably just
some little setting somewhere that I''ve overlooked. Hopefully, it's not a
technical problem with the FW-1884. Also, I can hear the output when I
switch from the FW-1884 to my Mac's built-in audio. If anyone here has any
suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.

I figured it out. Turns out I had to have the "MON MIX" and "F9/BOTH"
buttons pressed on the FW-1884. (Clearly, I've got a lot to learn here.)
