Logic Update 8.0.1

Logic Update 8.0.1

2007-12-22 by GAmoore@aol.com

Apple has updated Logic Pro to v8.0.1, a maintenance release that addresses
isolated reliability and stability issues, along with minor corrections to the
following areas of the application:

     • Right mouse button preferences.
     • Audio configuration.
     • Giant Bar and Giant SMPTE Display windows.
     • SMPTE view offset.
     • Marker text input.
     • Beat mapping.
     • Project management.
     • Channel strip Level fader display.
     • Key commands.
More details in this PDF.
The Logic update also includes Waveburner v1.5.1 and Impulse Response Utility
v1.0.1. If you are using Logic Node you will need to update your Logic Node
application on connected computers as well.
MainStage v1.0.2 improves overall stability and addresses specific customer
and general performance issues.

Re: [Logic_Cafe] Syncing ADATs to Logic w/MOTU 828 and Alesis BRC

2008-01-01 by Tim McLane

Happy New Year all!

I am wondering if these new updates might have something to do with
my problems in syncing my ADATs to Logic using a MOTU 828 and BRC.
Here's how I have them set up"

I connect my Alesis BRC (SMPTE set at 29.97 fps), set to generate
MTC, run a MIDI cable out of the BRC to the emagic amt/8 MIDI input.
The 9pin sync cable goes out of the BRC to the ADAT.

Light pipe out of the ADAT to the light pipe in of my MOTU 828.

LOGIC 8: on the sync page, I set Logic to SMPTE sync/MTC, set it to
Auto enable eternal sync and I press the sync putton on the command bar.

Heres what I see: Audio shows up in Logic and it is sensing timecode
but it doesnt catch. The timecode bar shows movement but it just
sits there, not moving. At one point I did something and it caught
and started moving for a few bars but then I interrupted it to get it
going at the right spot and it has never moved since. It might have
something to so with setting SMPTE offset but I dont know.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

t

Re: [Logic_Cafe] Syncing ADATs to Logic w/MOTU 828 and Alesis BRC

2008-01-03 by Tim Mclane

I solved my problem and it works like a charm. The issue was setting the
correct start time in Logic's sync settings.

Logic's default start time is 1 hour, so if you are sending MTC starting
from zero then you need to set your sync settings, thus:

File > Song Settings > Synchronization
set 'Bar Position' to "1 1 1 1",
set 'Plays at SMPTE' to "0 : 0 : 0 : 0"

I hope that helps someone else who has to sync up Logic with ADATs. If you
do as I have outlined below and use the correct start time, it works
incredibly well.
