Logic Studio/8 and apogee symphony

2008-02-20 by r_arsy

Hello,

I'm using Logic studio and Mac OSX Leopard, but until now still won't work. There is signal
coming to ad16x, but Logic doesn't recognize it. Also, the da16x doesn't reckon any signal
coming fr the computer (fr iTunes and other sound source)
I'm using mac pro quad core w/ leopard.

Any suggestion?
Thanks

Riza

I experience bugs with Logic Studio 8 and the audio interface EVERY day. And I am not using any drivers at all. I am using the TOSLINK digital optical input and output. Usually when I go to record, it shows as nothing is getting in at all. Usually what I do to fix it is open the audio prefs, then change the dig in/dig out to anything else, then change it back and relaunch the audio engine. Usually this fixes it. Last week, this failed too, and I ended up having to reboot the computer a few times too.

I see so many of you are complaining...
No, I'm not going to upgrade to Logic 8
I'm staying with 7!!

With Logic 8, its?6 steps forward and 2 steps back. At least the problems are just little annoyances. Not too many crashes.

I think you will see more people with problems post than those
without. Thats when I hit the groups. I for one find 8 to be excellent
and the benefits have far outweighed the few minor issues it has. FWIW
I had far more problems with 7 when it first came out than with this
upgrade.

I don't really get it. I work with Logic 8 everyday as well, and it runs
perfectly. It has never crashed, never frezzes, and just works. I would
never go back to Logic 7. I am running it on Tiger, maybey it has bugs on
Leopard?

I don't get either. I also use it every day. G5 Power PC OSX10.4 with
MOTU 2408 etc interface. Rock solid. Workflow is so much improved. One
or two minor gripes, but have you seen the competition lately, they
are hardly any better, and some a good deal worse? I take it you have
down loaded the latest patches and checked that your audio i/o drivers
are also up to date. e.g. some of Digidesign stuff was wrong with 8.
All the best,
Gil

Re: [Logic_Cafe] Re: Logic Studio/8 and apogee symphony

I use Logic almost every day too (on 10.4.11 - I am afraid to upgrade to
Lepoard yet), and generally I am happy with it. I have had it crash maybe 2 or 3
times, but thats not too bad. The bugs are mostly annoyances - like having to
go to the audio preferences every session (and as I mentioned I am NOT using
any drivers because I use the digital in and digital out built in to the mac - i
got tired of perpetual driver updates and problems with past systems).

There are also some things with the matrix window (not respecting the link to
a region, or bouncing back and forth (say its zoomed to 5 bars, and you are
cycling on 4 bars, but it will show 1 and 2, then jump to show 3 and 4, then
jump back to 1 and 2... until I zoom out to 10 bars to see it all without
jumping. this is a bug that has been in logic for years).

But generally I am getting productive work done daily and appreciate the
minor improvements of LS8.
