[LUG] OT - Guitar strumming programs (VG2, Real Guitar, etc...)

[LUG] OT - Guitar strumming programs (VG2, Real Guitar, etc...)

2008-07-15 by Chaz

I was wondering what many of you are using to simulate strumming a guitar or power chords using synth sounds you already have. I know of Virtual Guitarist and RealGuitar.

I use Mac OS X and current version of Logic

Any thoughts on these or any others?

Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

i think this company keyfax used to make midi of guitar strums that you can
drop in, then change the chords as appropriate. you can also just make strums
so they end up on the down beat (so start them 50-100 ticks before the beat),

There is actually a free logic environment at swiftkick.com that is a
very useful strummer. I'm sure the other programs you mention have
more tricks up their sleeves but they are not free.

It utilises a series of chord memorisers and arpegiators to voice and
strum all of the open position major and minor 6 string guitar chords
in up and down strum. The speed of the strum is controlled by the
settings on the arpegiators.

If you required different voicings you can just edit the chord
memorisers to suit.

Good luck.

Guitar Center is selling RealGuitar 2L right now for $99 - it's
normally $249. I just bought it. No other guitar solutions I have
tried have worked worth a damn (audio loops, Keyfax, environment
strumming simulators, etc.). I hope this program is usable.

FYI - if you buy at GC, you have to go to the website and send your
activation # in order to get a license # that will allow you to
update to v.2.2.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
